MTA Architects have been involved with a number of building projects at Buckfast Abbey, including the
rebuilding of Higher Mill. The Mill is a listed building and its reconstruction involved working closely with
The Dartmoor National Park Authorities and English Heritage to ensure the new building suitably reflected its
history. Previously the launder ran internally within the old mill building. The new scheme frees up the internal
space by rerouting the water outside to drive a new water wheel. The wheel provides an attractive visual
feature for visitors and generates electricity.
