This new bungalow is surrounded by other houses and sits on an unusually shaped parcel
of land that was probably not considered suitable as a development site. However
an imaginative approach to the site convinced the local planning authority and has
led to the creation of a successful new family home. A composition of glazing, painted
render and timber cladding to the external walls together with some strategically
placed flat and mono-pitched roofs have combined to create an attractive modern building
and courtyard garden.
Additional accommodation is achieved with a basement storey which opens out onto
a sunken courtyard and the roofs incorporate the latest green roof technology using
sedum planting modules.
