Extension to Firwood, Kingswear
This contemporary extension project replaced a run-down summer house and entrance vestiblue to the property built into a boundary embankment. The Client's brief was to provide a new studio/living space and create a new main entrance into the property. In response to the site's commanding views over the River Dart the space is fully glazed facing out into the garden and river beyond. A collonade of timber posts supports an extended canopy which provides a sheltered approach and summer shade, as well as a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the view. The extension's distinctive butterfly roof takes reference from the existing roofscape as well as providing space at the rear for high-level clerestorey windows which provide additional morning light.
